Hello NS community,
I've been playing NS for only a few days now and for starters I'd like to tip my hat off to the dev team: outstanding job! My wife's Counter-Strike friends introduced us to this mod, and while she'll probably end up staying loyal to the crack-pipe that is CS, I believe that I'll will be nursing a new monkey, err... skulk, on my back.
I'd also like to give out a "thank you" to the NS community, as just spending a few minutes browsing the forums has greatly improved my game. The FAQs and pinned beginner's guides are priceless, and while I am far from mastering all of the game's concepts, I believe that they have pointed me in the right direction. Already, I have successfully participated in cloaked-skulk ambushes, heterogeneous assaults, and have given plenty of marines a hearty case of post-traumatic stress syndrome. My score is never impressive, but I still feel a sense of accomplishment when I adhere to the tactics that were laid out in this forum.
Unfortunately, I have had few good experiences while playing as a marine. Typically, the map starts up and the first 10-20 minutes of the round involves 3 or more players fighting over who gets the conn. Things get even worse when FF is enabled. You'd think that by this stage in the evolution of online games that people would be accustomed to the fact that their yuppie, ego-centric, "I'm the king of the world because my mommy and daddy told me so" attitudes just don't cut it, but alas, somehow they continue to breed. Hopefully, as the mod and community progresses, people will actually come to terms with this archaic concept called "mutual respect" or we'll all end up suffering the consequences of hook-CRT-inject retribution.
While I'm getting off topic, did I mention that the first time I evolved into an Onos I was knifed to death?!?!?!
Anyways, great artwork, great concept, great mod. Thanks!

And your wife is a big CS player, huh? Man, I'm jealous. Wish my girlfriend was as into playing games. I can't even get her to play the games I work on.
hehe, be careful what you wish for. It's bad enough that she always steals the "good" computer, the good chair, and the good headset/mic, but what's truly the worst thing about it is the fact that shes 10 times the CS player than I am. No kidding, we go on the same server on the same team, and by the end of the map she's 40-5 while I'm struggling at 17-16. It's so frustrating! Same thing goes for Starcraft, Civilization and Mechwarrior. I thought that video games by default were culturally/genetically biased towards males - what gives?
Slappy, thanks for the ip. If you see a guy named "dave" on your server in the next few days, feel free to hand out the orders. I make a good lackey.
