Can't wait to heard that in the game when walking on corridors !!
I approve at 100% :
"For NS2 we wanted to avoid using commercial sound libraries whenever possible (they are so over used), so most of the sounds you will hear in the game are things in my garage or have been synthesized"
I think sound is incredibly important to making a game feel good. The weapons sound very solid which is important. There's nothing worse than having a large machine gun and it going pewpewpew when you fire it. Powerful sounds change the feel entirely.
Really good sounding effects you got there. As someone said: grenade launcher sound? at 0:30 Marine montage.
And please put a volume control in the options where you can adjust music(ambient) volume and sound effects volume because in NS1 some of the maps had terribly loud ambient sound in some places which made it impossible to hear any skulk footsteps and whatnot.

That's only if you want. Sound is, for the average player, part of the gaming experience. I guess that's why I will never understand the competitive scene, but then again, I play for fun, not to win.

Wasn't that on purpose? As is the intent of the mapper? By turning off the sounds you're messing with the balance the mapper intented for that room. I will admit that sometimes it was very annoying how they where implement (turning on and off all of a sudden) and the low quality of some. But that's mostly due to engine limitations or just that these are old. I'm hoping NS2 has the same effect, with higher quality and a better engine the effect would be very atmospheric, less annoying, and give one more tool to the mappers to affect the marine/alien balance in a room.
I just hope you will keep the ambient as unobtrusive and quiet as possible while still being present of course, so that players do not simply turn it off before giving it a chance or get tired of it.

Holy crap! Well f*cking done on deciding to create your own sounds rather than using sound libraries. This alone shows how committed you lot are to this project. The Rifle sounds fantastic, and I really like the new beacon sound. I did wonder how focused this team was on the games audio, I even submitted a question to Max last week for his Q&A wanting to know more about this games audio, but after hearing those clips, I'm very impressed.
Man everyone is right these sounds are amazing, I also don't get the criticism on the gun sounds, I think they are awesome. I really hope the first one is the lmg.. I would love hearing that every time I fire that beast.

There are 2 zoom levels for each pic. Once you clicked the image in the post a little magnifier appears in the bottom right corner. Hit that to notice jagged edges all over the place. :/
Oh, btw: First post! I've been playing NS since 1.04 and I love it! - & I preordered NS2SE, of course...

Excellent master piece of work :)
the sounds are amazing and really capture the spirit of NS1, yet skillfully modified for the new game... brilliant.
the alien sounds were especially impressive, i'd type more but i need to go back and listen again!
keep up the good work :)

Such good stuff
nailed it.

Is anyone else happy that they fixed the undo button?
I'm going to need a new pair of pants.
Khara sound deadly.

Wow.
