GAme keeps freezing

Im using windows 7 with pentium dual-core e5400 @ 2.7GHz i have the 64-bit windows 7 os
i have nvidia 9400gt 1024mb video card and while im in the game at random times it will freeze. and ill have to open the task manager and end the process to fix it. any ideas on how to fix my problem?
