Adds to lerk's character
Just as lerks roost on walls, they should be able to roost on the backs of marines basically tackling down. While the Lerk is roosted on the back of the marine it raises its claw in the air (which takes about a second to give his team a short time to save him/notice the lerk) and strikes down on the marine killing it.
Balancing
- The Lerk can only assassinate on the targets back
- The strike takes a second or so giving time for teammates to save him/notice the lerk
- Can be used as an upgrade
Looks
- The Lerk should be pushing the marine down, knocking him off his feet
- The Lerks striking wing should be held up high before the strike as to cause a scene

Imagine being the marine, and suddenly you fall to the ground, for 3 seconds. And then getting up again. All with a cool cinematic.
The lerk should be going really fast for an effective strike. And should be obviously coming from behind.
Considering how much pain people have had about the AvP Trophy kill system, I don't think will work out well.
Not sure if I like the one-shot kill idea, anyway. How about Lerks deal double damage with spikes or get a bite attack while roosting on marine's backs. That and give the marine a chance to fight back. So lerks still have a high fatality attack, it just isn't one shot kill.
Also, roosting on a marine should cause a small bit of damage (since the Lerk is using its claws to grip the Marine).
Tangent: If Lerks can roost on Marines, they should be able to roost on aliens, too. Causes some damage to the roostee. Lerks could lift off with skulks or gorges (and making bombing runs by detaching skulks mid-flight and give gorges a lift), and otherwise be a mobile spike turret on fades or onoses. Fits in with support class notion, I think.

Will this make the lerk easier to shoot? Will it be like Left 4 Dead as if a hunter is on someone's back?
Will it be like AvP, where I push E and "connect" to the marine's back?
Are you suggesting this so that it will be easier for the casual gamer to play?
Aren't skulks assassins too? Should they get the same upgrade?
I do like the idea of the lerk being able to knock marines onto their backs by swooping down and headbutting them, though, as a few people have been mentioning. That seems kinda cool.
A kind of push-back + damage would be OK, imo. But not a knockdown.
Quicktime events where two players battle it out might be cool, but theres allways the trouble of latency.
I can already imagine the descendants of power stripers to have macros / hotkeys ready to start a program draining their bandwith, increasing latency (ping) to have more time to react to the attacker's inputs.
Somebody may care to make this a whole new threads, I don't. For above reasons.
