Mouse input in NS2

Please make sure you add support for both raw and directinput. This is an important standard in games today. This can be seen in QuakeLive (www.QuakeLive.com) by putting in_mouse 2 (raw) or in_mouse -1 (DI) in console. They have large differences in the way they handle the mouse input and it makes a large difference in the feel.

At least the Quake live forums claim that in_mouse 1 is Direct Input, -1 is windows pointer and 2 is raw. Some guide claims 'raw' is the best one. I'll try to figure out how the feel different some time later today.

Still, +1 for good and responsive mouse settings. Quake Live definitely isn't a bad basis for that.

I just hope they add a mouse sens slider ingame.
I dislike games that rely on the windows sens slider.

I'm sure they'll have a slider as well as console entry for precise sensitivity variable setting. The only question is whether they'll go beyond that.

They should include an easy interface in the mouse options. It's annoying transitioning from game to game and setting your sensitivity so it matches your usual degrees/inch. NS2 should include the ability to choose from the sensitivity sliders scales that most popular FPSes use so people can transition from other games easily. A box to fill in your mouse dpi and the game will then allow you to set your degrees/inch would be a great addition to options in FPSes. Of course, full control over mouse acceleration should be included and easily accessible too.

To this day I can never understand why gamedevs allow Windows' sensitivity to affect the game or why one has to disable "acceleration" when all of these features should be the domain of the game.
