concede

I'd like to see ns2 support the ability for a team to concede the game. In a similar way to how a team can vote to kick a commander, the team should be able to do a vote to concede the game.

There might have to be a few restrictions on how/when a concede would work, but these are secondary and may not be necessary:
- 2/3rds vote to pass (vs simple majority)
- the other team has to have at least two established bases (hives/chairs)
- cannot concede with 3 bases
- requiring commander to approve

Alternative to traditional conceding: Challenge Conceding

Challenge conceding gives the other team a temporary major advantage for 3-5 minutes (depending on the number of bases of the conceding team). The major advantage would be so large that even a mediocre team could win if they try. If the other team cannot kill the base of the conceding team during this time, then the conceding team immediately wins or gets the advantage themselves. I like this idea because it will get a winning team off its butt and make them actually finish the game. It can also be a last ditch effort for the loosing team to try to hold them off in order to win, and makes the last few minutes intense.

Major reasons to concede:
- Other team won long ago and is just wasting time
- The game has stagnated, but one team clearly cannot win
- Teams are unfair

Really a simple concede system, passed by a large portion of the team (I'd prefer 2/3 myself), should suffice.

While reading this I was thinking that, I hope UWE thought of something to prevent commander rage or recycling the whole base.

    lol

This is true. Rarely do I ever see the end of a game, mostly because of massive readyroom migrations.

I like this idea. I normally Ready Room when the other team decides to rape us as fast as they possibly can and don't give my team a chance (usually because of team stacking). I normally do this thing called "holding back" when I feel that my team or I have an unfair advantage. Granted, I am talking more about combat mode, but it is something that everyone should do.

So, conceding would be a good idea for a winning team to do to prolong a short game. However, most players won't choose to handicap themselves. This is because most people enjoy killing more than challenge. That's why you see people with a 10:1 kill to death ratio believe they are having fun, though there is no challenge. They should go back to playing duck hunt :)

The classic concede/remake system is the following (and by classic I mean HoN and LoL and a few other games use it):

Within first 5 minutes: concede disabled, remake enabled.
After 5 minutes: Concede enables, (either 2/3 or 100% vote to pass) Remake still enabled if foobar occurs
After X minutes: Remake disables, concede rules still apply.

What's remake and foobar mean in this context?

    Remake = Restart the game.

Foobar = Morphism of FUBAR, which tands for ###### Up Beyond All Repair.

So for example, if you want to Remake a Foobar game, you want to restart a game that's been screwed up.

It's only important if we have stat tracking / for pride or competitive stuff.

For example, if someone disconnects within the first 5 minutes of a game, you don't want to have to concede, just do a remake!

I like the concede idea better than the whole team just F4ing. Seems more sportsmanlike when the whole team is voting to give up rather than players dropping into the readyroom.

Pretty decent idea. The problem with voting systems near end games on...

    losing teams... THEY LOST!

    So they either left...
    Stopped playing...
    Went afk...
    Not trying hard enough...
    Just suiciding...
Already lost their lifeform and gave up...
    Hiding in the vent...
Hard to counter weapons 3 and sloooooow long pushes
Also People are just joining to fill someones spot that just left (and have no clue if they should be voting yet or not)

    Face it...

It boils down to ... Would you rather have your teammate sitting in a vent trying to initiate end game vote? Or sitting in the ready room waiting for an F4 vote?

He will get kicked idling ready room... (Hopefully) ... He can spectate the map to see what went wrong and think about improving on it while the game ends...

NS1 with their F4 feature is fine and all... Minus the only needing 3 to stop from over stacking.

The problem is an autobalance feature for those that F4 and quit off the losing team. It will always unbalance a game.

If this were to be realistically applied like it is in Heroes of Newerth or League of Legends. You would also need to "lock" the teams so you cannot just "Ready Room" when your team is losing. If people are just team cycling, it will simply cause votes fo fail.

Possibly have it set at a certain time limit, such as 20 minutes before the vote could even happen. On top of that, lock the teams so that F4 cannot be pushed during the vote (at least ensuring an accurate 2/3 majority).
