Here's something I've thought of...
I believe it's intended to have lights flicker when a resource tower or whatever gets hit. And with the power grid controlling lights and stuff, I would assume that most of the map would be covered in darkness.
Now, I'm not saying that everything will be pitch black. Mappers will obviously make some lights that aren't connected to the power grid so they stay on all the time.
So yeah, will areas of the map be engulfed in darkness (besides those few light sources) when there is no tech point captured?

However, all three levels will be purely atmospheric, and will retain full visibility.
aside from being harder to see in the darkness do aliens have any other advantages when the lights are out? i.e. do they have a form of night vision?

Is this sarcasm? How can you retain full visibility in outright darkness?
