<div class="IPBDescription">Countdown system</div>What if they would have some sort of countdown for the ability to better know when to expect the news updates.

I guess it would solve the issue that they don't have to apologize if at some point they can't update specificly on fridays.
(Everyone seem to expect news on fridays)

I do understand that they have been useing the fridays as news day, and I've heard that they have said that it's most pleasant that way.

Thing is that, if they do not release any updates on common time the responce they receive is most depressing, and all they do is creating a game for us. They have recently been showing us alot of very good game content and I'm very pleased that they did.

I do not expect updates every friday, in fact, I don't know if I am really "expecting" at all. I have been watching the forums and I have been posting sometimes, and I've notice that people seem to expect updates from the poor devs.

I know we got one yesterday, but today is Friday...<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

So I am wondering, would a countdown system be a choice of intrest?

See, I bet everyone here would love it, but if its granularity is anything less than a day, then it is going to be a source of constant disappointment.

The updates are probably uploaded as soon as they are done. Would you a) want them to wait an extra amount of time to meet the countdown or b) release them late and cause frustration and annoyance while people watch the countdown go negative or c) conservatively estimate the countdowns and delay them even further due to b).

The reality is, people are impatient and there's nothing you can do to solve it.

You are probably right. I can see that you are not so fond of my resent idea.

I am happy that you spend some time to share your views of this matter.

Well, I definitely agree with your observation that there is a lot of needless frustration on Fridays, and it'd be great to find a way to solve it, I just don't think there's much you can do to manage internet impatience :(

It's sad how true this is.

Nah. They do whatever they can and finish whenever they feel like it. Until the finished product is out of the oven I wouldn't expect too much. UWE is just a small company with very limited resources.

If people just understood that they are not entitled to Friday weekly updates, everything would be fine. Heck, last year, the devs would only post an update every few weeks. Nobody is entitled to anything.

And a countdown timer is a bad idea. People would only get disappointed when the time is not met or as puzl says, devs would just delay announcements which would suck even more.

Countdown's are good for big releases, that's about it.

It seems that it's better to avoid the countdown.

I'm very happy that you guys took the time to respond to my question and beyond.

I am still counting down/up? for Duke Nukem Forever.

Who knows if this could might maybe not kinda be a good thing?

I am sure that it would be nice to have a countdown. It seems that in longer terms that the system would only create more frustration then less, and I never want to hurt anyone.

The idea was to let people know when to expect the release/reveal and probably make people go a little easyer on the devs, but as puzl told me, I just can't change anything.

Though I won't stop trying to find something to help the devs, but for now I don't have anything.
