Forum seems very congested at the moment, hope this gets through. NS2 runs fine in windowed mode as well as in fullscreen, however when alt-tabbing out of fullscreen and returning back, it crashes. Resolution was maximum (1680x1050), dump file is at http://www.megaupload.com/?d=M4GPYKJU
Additionally, weapon model gets overdrawn by geometry as seen in attachment or below
The game crash if I select high graphics detail, in medium works fine. By the way, performance is a bit lame, isn't it? I mean, my graphics card (Radeon 4670) isn't the best, but many actual games works fine with a decent frame rate, but in this test I only get 20-30 fps O_0, is this game nvidia/physx friendly or something ?
If i enter my preorder-key with this test-engine... will it be bound to the current steam-account? cause I'm not sitting at home over the weekend and don't want to miss out a few test minutes.
Will i be able to install the test-engine / game with my own steam-account running too, after entering my preorder-key with another steamacccount running?
I don't have it downloaded yet, but they store Editor stuff in the Application Data section of your home folder. So... "C:\Documents and Settings\MyName\Application Data\...", Assuming you're running XP. Vista+Windows7 are similar.

Yeah I get the same exact problem with a nVidia 9600 gt. It seems to happen when I look at certain areas. Like spawning into range 2, I can't look at the first set of stairs or my computer completely freezes and have to restart it. Though sometimes I can alt-tab/close ns2 before it happens if I'm super quick.
Usually can't play for more than a few seconds but the most I played was about 38 secs before I saw something wrong. Did get to shoot some dummies though, that was cool. Tried in High/Medium/Terrible graphics options, no difference there. Haven't tried in windows mode or a lower resolution. If it somehow works doing that, I'll make an addendum.
Yay, just got up and downloaded the torrent. Seeding from my server, too, while I just... am amazed! Everything works, fps is very good (except for quick turnarounds when it starts to stutter for a sec), gfx are excellent. There was one crash: I alt-tabbed out of the game (running in fullscreen mode), when I cam back it was all black. If I stay in the game, though, it is absolutely stable.
One more thing: Parts of one of the wooden guys may lie about 1m away from the position of the complete target. If I move around a corner suddenly those parts pop up. I think this is because the game/netcode still thinks that thing is at its original place and starts to draw it right before I could see that.
I have two issues at the minute, first is that the shadows constantly flickering, though this maybe a ATI bug as i've had it numerous times before in other games. Second is my custom key bindings don't work.
EDIT: If i disable catalyst in CCC then the shadows stop the flickering. Must be the famous ATI bug.
on an average I am getting between 79-90 fps on high quality, now and then it may drop to 40fps when going to certain rooms on map #2 and in one particular spot standing in a corner to view a whole room it dropped to 37fps, shooting didn't affect fps that much and I was able to move and shoot quite freely with no significant changes to my fps.
this is all with the following specs: Windows 7 Intel i7 930 2.8ghz processor 6gb Ram Sapphire 5850 gfx card Asus P6T motherboard
High speed mirror up on clustered server: http://www.bryns.co.uk/downloads/files/ind...up_build140.exe
On certain locations (in both maps!) my fps drop below 30, to about 28 - 29, without any reason whatsoever, there is not more geometry than in the other rooms at those locations, in rooms with lots of shadows my fps stay optimal aswell. Not sure if this is a problem with the engine or rather poorly designed maps.
I did some testing and found that the fps drops only occur when looking at specific geometry from a specific viewpoint, if you move the viewpoint fps go up, if you look at a different geometry fps go to normal aswell. Again, the part of the map that causes these major drops is not more complex or looks better than any other part. I can take some screens if that is any help, although I already tried to make screens but they end up being black-screens :/
I'm getting a solid 50-60 FPS most of the time, but when I look in certain directions when in certain rooms (mostly on the second map) my FPS drops to about 29 until I change my position. Other than that the engine is pretty sweet and nice to look at. It definitely feels like a sequel to NS even at this early stage, which is great because now I know for sure the devs haven't lost their mojo.
