Great work on the engine test. I can't wait to see what you've got planned for us next!
I love you guys... (also includes David John!)
I would love for it in the finished game if you will keep this sort of menu to have varied sequences randomly playing after one another in an endless loop. I'm sure you're allready planning some such approach.
Keep up this, we all believe in you ;)

About 'stingers' I wonder if that means left4dead style event-triggered musical events. It would go quite well with NS2 I think.
In any case, I think its a good idea to release the game in parts. Because if you can release like combat-like gameform, modding community and players could track your bugs down for the actual NS, because many of these elements are no doubt in the classic NS.
Btw. to anyone who likes Aleksi's short clip, you might want to check out his best NS1 fragmovie. Even though quality-wise its not up to Army of Wltrs (he didnt have juicy enough computer), its still a good watch.

It's being professionally made by artist David John and sold as a soundtrack, so unfortunately no, it's not going to be creative commons.
I don't like the menu theme as a whole. The guitars sound out of place and also give the song a "Spanish" touch which doesn't give you the feeling that you are in a FPS game with Aliens and Marines in dark and industrial corridors and hallways. I had to think of Call of Juarez when I heard it :D
The tune also has too many electronic components which makes it impossible to create a "dark, cold and industrial" atmosphere. Jeremy Soule really nailed it in NS1. You have to use classical music instruments and mix it with electronic beats or sounds to create such an atmosphere. Jeremy is good at it and Hans Zimmer too. I think something similar to their style would do better =)
Please don't get me wrong. I don't dislike the whole song. Some parts are really cool but sound "overloaded" or "out of place" when certain instruments join the theme. Some dark parts near the end get "spoiled" when the guitars join for example.
I hope that you don't take this personally. It's just my critique ;)

No it's not Creative Commons. It is not for reuse.
Wow. Anyone know the name of the track used for that vid?
It's in the credits.
Suggestion for NS2 Devs
Even though trailers have been pretty good in the past, I don't know if you had to pay for them? I mean, I think there's lots of potential in NS frag movie authors, to help out on trailers, sneak peaks, friday update videos, and probably without any cost or for early alpha access etc.
By the way, for anyone who's interested:
The frag video includes an evolution of electronic music and remix techniques called "Glitch Hop".
The single from the clip is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pk225_E2PRI

A lot of the early stuff was done by Mojok, who did the live action NS thingy. Would be worth getting those guys to put together stuff from beta testing though, could be awesome.
Also: Muwahahaha
Nice Work NS2 team
