Steam for Mac / NS2 for Mac

in NS2 General Discussion
now, since NS2 is distributed via Steam, Steam for MacOS is released and Valve is porting their Games for Mac...
is there any reason why we do not already playtest the first Mac-Version of the NS2-Engine? ^^

I actually thought i'd rather play Natural Selection natively under MacOSX than any Valve-Game.

Any news in this regard?
