<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->The Odwalla Plant a Tree program is available in all 50 states from May 25, 2010 through August 15, 2010 or until 175,000 trees are donated. Go to www.odwalla.com/plantatree, enter your email address and choose the state where you want Odwalla to plant a tree. Only one (1) click per person. All trees will be planted in state parks in the chosen states. Participants pay NO money under this program. The cost of the donated trees will be paid solely by Odwalla, Inc., $1 per tree up to $175,000. If for some reason a state cannot or does not want to accept the donation, then it would go to a non-profit that would plant trees in that state.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I take them! Now, what company would I earn the most by selling them to?

I'd be kinda tempted to suggest they plant them in a state which is already full of forests, like alaska, just to see if you could build a forest over a town or something.

You only get one toothpick per tree.

This program is kinda ehh... I have friends that have worked as tree planters, and 1,000 trees is pretty much a days work. There isn't looking to be super high volumes going to be put in the ground through the planting effort here. There are several million trees in British Columbia and quite a few more than a million have been planted by man already.

I guess it's nice to raise awareness... but it isn't exactly a reforestation exercise that's taking place here.

It is just a company making a donation and wanting a little credit for it. Seeing how it takes no effort on my part I wouldn't look too much into it.

This is an incredibly cool promotion! I wish my local area would do something like that. What better way to encourage people to have greener properties than to give them free trees?

Give them free shrubs, trees are horrible to have near your house, they block all the light and damage anything you build near them, and you can't get rid of them later.

to be fair i think the scheme only uses shrubs and small trees that will not grow over a certain size. plus it uses only native flora, so for our climate, plants that require little to no water and can cope with extreme weather conditions.

p.s. set fire to the hive

Last place I lived had a bunch of trees in the backyard, some maples and oaks. Unfortunately it didn't look like the previous owner took any pride in the little foresty thing going on, as the tree roots and their shade had really damaged most of the yard. In fact the oaks were so large and unkempt that they pretty much blocked all the sunlight completely, and the maple trees were kind of sickly looking. I guess you can't really blame the oaks because they're bigger but the maples weren't doing too hot. Oddly enough, there were very few animals to be found as well. Set up a squirrel feeder and almost none would use it.

Then the ###### maple trees formed a god damn labor union and I cut all those ######s down and turned them into furniture.
