Third Person View

I've seen a lot of the released videos showing a third person view.
Can I get a Yes/No answer on if this is going to be a feature for players?
Fighting with melee weapons is much easier in third person, and the difference in difficulty between first person and third person increases as player speed and maneuverability increases. This is relevant for NS2 as the basic alien lifeform is a hard hitting zergling.

I agree about third person shooters. However, I'm not talking about third person ranged combat. I am talking about third person melee combat.
Also, "The Specialists" handled your problem about seeing around corners rather simply. Third person view wouldn't grant that ability.

Yup.
I still can't believe why all thirdperson games haven't been doing this, I guess they lack innovation and the willpower to try something new.
But if you were to include it(as a server enabled variable for the Players; sv_enablethirdperson 0/1/2/3), make it so 1=Kharaa/2=Marine/3=Both.
Maybe i'm stupid right now but i can't really think of a way to do it o_O

There's no cover system.
Thusly, seeing around corners is impossible since the camera's locked to your character's forward position.
btw i dont really see a problem with skulks being able to spy around corners - i would see that as a gameplay feature, and a role of a skulk. (for all we know skulks might have some extra sensory organs etc)
Okay that's a solution but i have to say a rather cheap one that doesn't feel really polished. Probably ends up confusing players as to "wtf i just looked an nobody had been there and now there is somebody?!". It's one of these solutions that might work technically but feel/look just strange, valve for example wouldn't use it.
And skulks beeing able to peak around corners trough 3rd person certainly an interesting concept. Kinda reminds of splinter cell's Spy's vs Merc's multiplayer where the spy's had an advantage because of their 3rd person view to make up for their lack of ranged weaponary.
If anyone here has played Savage 2, it is similar to NS. Its like World of Warcraft and NS mixed. I love the 3rd person views in that game for melee combat.
