But I think it should just make R2-D2 type sounds. If for no other reason than to reduce the language clutter. If there are 4 marines yelling over the voice comm at once is confusing enough. Beepy noises would be sufficient to advertise its presence.
Unfortunately, as much as I absolutely loved CL4P-TR4P, anything other than BEEPS and BOOPS and WHIRZ probably just won't fit into the NS2 theme. You may get away with adding robotic like voices for the Commander for when the bot simply can't go to the desired location or what not, though.
Seriously speaking, I'd like to have the robot voice giving some responses that they understood the command right and I don't have to stay around to babysit the bot. Otherwise I don't really care, although humorous punchlines get old pretty quick usually. Unless someone can pull off insane soundset like Sacrifice had, I wouldn't push it too far.

For example, "building, construction complete, welding, welding complete, cannot go there, command confirmed"
That's your building complete, damage/death sound, recycle/stop action/impossible move sound and creation sound right there :p
they would've been fine if you could kill them ... but well what can you expect from a game of this epic failure.
