Portal 2? I got to say after playing the first which was boring lacking variation, I have been sceptical. Although I am pleasantly surprised by how it appears to be more complex and full of variation the 'original' Portal never gave. I don't know how everyone else feels, although by modern standards Portal 2 looks like a game and Portal looks like the training level you can't wait to get out of, so you can see what all the fuss is really about.

True, true. But personal opinions aren't a path to righteousness. I actually kinda agree with him about Portal (1) being more like a hazard course, but I still liked it enough though...

I thought it was too short and had a few pacing problems and a bit of trouble with not enough variation on the concept, although I still really liked playing portal. I'm was a bit surprised that the reviewing industry at large pretty much couldn't find and faults with the game, at the same time though, I was happy for the developers because it IS a good game and DOES deserve credit for being one of those gems in the industry.
I don't hate Portal. I just think Portal shouldn't have been as lame as it is, which is why I'm looking forward to Portal 2 which has real effort put in to it.
The idea of throwing a friend or a robot around a room uncontrollably using portals as a griefing mechanism is also quite appealing ^_^

This make no sense. The valid opinions are:
a. Portal was awesome! b. Portal was great! c. Portal was really good. d. Portal was the best game of the year. e. I'm really looking forward to Portal 2 because Portal was so incredible. f. I suck goats and don't like Portal or awesome things.

The thing I liked most about Portal was the writing - the first time I played through the game was with a friend, and we were both rolling on the floor laughing (the turrets really got to us at first)
Part of what made it so good was that it was unexpected - I doubt I'll enjoy Portal 2 quite as much simply because of the expectations I have for it now.
On the other hand, one thing that i didn't like quite so much was the difficulty curve - it seemed like there was a little too much handholding (the first half felt a bit too much like a tutorial) - I realize this is a very difficult thing to balance, because if it's too hard for someone else they will get discouraged, so I don't fault them for erring on the easy side...and I think Portal 2 will be better in this regard, because people will already know how to use portals by this point
Minecraft is all the rage these days. I played an early beta or alpha a long time ago and I couldn't see what the fuss is about. I guess it mostly appeals to creative types, which I am not one of.
edit: is it ironic that I finished up this post and went right back to playing Gem Miner on my Droid?
