Dedicated server visibility

Hi all,
in the mist of transferring or dedicated server from one box to another, and we have hit apon a problem. both with a carbon copy and a fresh install the server no longer appears on the server list. the server operated fully and could still be connected to via IP but does not come up when search for which is very hindering when trying to get it to fill up.
anyone else had this problem or have any suggestions.
the server is running Linux (and was before hand)
