Ooh, I'm 5 minutes down the road in Newport.

    Small world.

    <img src="http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5840750/Pictures/NS2EU.png" border="0" class="linked-image" /> and <img src="http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5840750/Pictures/NS2UK.png" border="0" class="linked-image" />

Not sure if I will change NS2UK to NS2EU. Though minus the white writing (Which I'll probably remove), I'm pretty happy with it. Not bad considering I've not touched PS in a while!

If people keep pushing for UK to expand to Europe, I will change the STEAM group over. Hopefully the admins can re-title this thread too :><!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
wow, I love the EU icon, looks damn good.

I think EU would really be best.
When the alpha comes there won't be that many players (compared to the amount when the game is finally released).
Since a great majority is from the US (it seems to be around 60+%) it would be a good idea to gather all the players/servers we have into one group, just my thoughts :)

Just joined the group and I'm number 20 :)

Ahh Main Street, how I (don't) miss you.

The Barley got revamped and pretty much killed off Mainerz a few years back.

Thanks for the positive feeback on the icons and what not!

Though I cannot change the current steam groups name "Natural Selection UK" to "Natural Selection Europe" without creating an entirely new group (I thought I could, but it seems you can only change the abbreviation and URL, not the group name - Bugger).

So groaningly, I did make a new group called <a href="http://steamcommunity.com/groups/NS2EU" target="_blank">Natural Selection 2 Europe (NS2EU)</a>. So everyone from Europe can join up and get games organized on the 26th :)

I feel a bit of a ###### for having two almost identical groups. Though I kind of look at the UK group being a more defined sub-category of NS2EU.

Well both groups aren't doing too bad, kind of surprised there are less people in Europe than there are in UK!

    21 people in <a href="http://steamcommunity.com/groups/NS2UK" target="_blank">NS2UK</a> and 10 people in <a href="http://steamcommunity.com/groups/NS2EU" target="_blank">NS2EU</a>.

Surely there are more of you out there, lurking in the dark.

There are quite a few UK players. I'd say between the Swedes and the Americans we represent one of the largest playerbases. Some of the largest communities for NS were either UK based, too. Warservers, Brys, NTFM, jarHedz, and that's before you count the GSP communities. I wouldn't worry too much about UK NS2.

We always tried to arrange a UK NS LAN as well, but it never quite took off. I'm going to pester my local Gamerbase (UK Chain of LAN centres) to see if they can't do an NS2 release event too, but we'll see.

jarhedz ns, uk based? You trying to start another war or something? :P

I personally don't feel a need to draw geographical borders in cyberspace. Ping and language are the landscape in which online communities should grow.

Don't make me come over there & oppress you for hundreds of years.

Anyway, it was UK based for quite a while, too!

Going by the red timer though, the alpha release for us in the UK is 2 am the morning of the 27th. So perhaps sleep all day Monday ? :)

Its a great Shame Jez and Ned no longer run warservers, alot of us who helped run them will be playing NS2 and are all uk players, closest we got to a NS lan was bringing our Swe's over to one of the I events :P

I don't want to connect to Spain or Russia or somewhere and play with 100-150ms when I can play on more local servers with people and get 20-40ms :) and I know the server browser is for that, but it would be nice to organize games more locally, opposed to random pubbing.

This is the first weekend that I WANT to go faster ahaha. I cannot wait to have a game with a few people, where we are all just goofing around trying to find bugs and exploits :)

I, for one, have never heard of a British NS player and frankly the idea offends me.
