as i see the uw test servers now @ns2, i see there is no numeric ping shown, only three green bars.
i also dont see a button like "view server infos", further are the server infos (name game map players ping) are very sqeezed (i use ns2 @ 1920x1600 o.O so there is plenty of room left and right)
when im alt tab switching im looking at "restoring...." for a quite long time, compared to other games.
i have win764 ati4870 8gig ram @ 1066, intel quadcore @ 3,4ghz and an intel ssd, just for the record.
/e/ i recently updated my gfx driver to the newest one, i see i get a strange error message in the console now: "SoundEventProject::CreateEvent(common/button_enter) Couldnt load file (Make sure Events mode is 3d)"
when i shoot one shot, everything is fine, but when i shoot more than one, the shooting sound hangs.
i cant move until i jump :P
/e²/ mh i wonder, i've got a ping around 180-190 to 74.86.150.58, but it results in three green bars, some times (1of10) in two orange ones, but hum, 1 green bar = ~75ms? :P

The alpha is coming out tomorrow.
but in so big projects with so less ppl. you easily overlook so slight edges :)
it's like the 100papercuts project from ubuntu :)
but as you said, cu on the servers today ^^
However, all of those are well documented bugs that many have experienced before. And several people want to have real ping numbers instead of bars. Dunno what they're doing in this build.
