Non-Steam Version

Every once in a while, my school has a game day, in which it host a number of games for people to play. One of these games happens to be Half-Life. A friend an I were thinking of asking if we could install NS on a few of the computers (they're running about 25 with HL), but the problem is that the version of Half-Life is non-steam. Is there a way to run the current version of NS without steam?

Talking about getting this version or about how to get NS to run on it is obviously not allowed here. NS probably can't run on that version either, being built to be steam compatible and all...
So I guess the short answer is no <img src="http://members.home.nl/m.borgman/ns-forum/smileys/tongue.gif" border="0" class="linked-image" />
I get your point, though. The current NS <i>is</i> meant for a Steam install, so finding a build that works with non-Steam HL is unlikely. Thanks anyway.

I think you want ns_install_v1.exe in the natural-selection/install/old_versions/ with the 1.04_fix.zip as well
Also, the newest version of NS that was supported on the old Half-Life was <a href="http://www.bryns.co.uk/downloads/files/index.php?dir=natural-selection/install/old_versions/&file=ns_install_v20.exe" target="_blank">v2.0</a>.
Yeah, I'd try this, because I'm pretty sure that the latest version still comes files that only the WON version of Half-Life used.
But if you can get an old HL (before steam) then you should see if new ns1 works. if not then you'll need to find a version that do work.
remember haveing CS beta 7 (one of the BEST versions of cs by far. there is one 1.x that was just as good) on steam running under HL.
A few error with keybord and in-game menus (they had to be text-based to work) that worked about 90-95% as you need to edit that part you self.
