console command/user config files?

Hey guys,
I apologise if this is a waste of space in this particular board, but I am hoping someone can help out.
For some reason when I booted up the game and clicked into settings my game had 'windowed mode' and '320x280' resolution as the default. I caught this at a glance just before I clicked out of settings back to the main menu (and as a result confirming my changes, of which I had made none). The game changed to these strange settings, what resulted is a tiny window of natural selection which I can no longer see any of the menus let alone click them and change this...
So first things first, is this easily fixable via console commands or a user config file somewhere??
Else, perhaps its worth submitting this as feedback on how the settings menu could benefit from a "confirm these changes" popup or an "apply" button when any changes are made.
