Lerk Skill Blob

Here's the idea: Right now lerks spit out a cloud, right? What if they spit out a slow moving glob that emits said cloud AND they stick to what they hit. For normal people, it'll still just be a cloud. For the awesome (or occasionally lucky) player, it will give you the ability to tag a marine with a cloud that follows him.
That's it, no extra damage. No cloud damage nerf... Just another skill dynamic.

Pros:
Adds new lerk dynamic
Doesn't interfere with current lerk functionality

Cons:
High skill players will be "buffed"
Development time added

Cons: taging a marine is very likely to kill him, just like the lerks sniper spikes (the lerk is overpowered this build if you ask me).

Yeah I don't really like one hit kill weapons given that in this instance, you're more likely to hit the marine by chance than by intent.

Having the cloud be released on impact by an arcing projectile however might be worthwhile, you could lob them over things and it would prevent long distance sniping with them.

I think the Lerk spikes should either be: tiny low damage rapid fire spikes with a large cone of fire; or burst shots a la the shotgun (with the same cone of fire, providing a similar effect, but in a burst rather than rapid fire) - focus the Lerk more on strafing runs than sitting back and sniping from afar. Of course, this would have to be combined with an in-depth flight system.

what if the lerk shoots a blob at the marine which latches on, and slowly releases gas

so if the marine runs around he'll spread the gas - and maybe shake the blob off (doing less damage to himself, but more damage to his team).

or he can stay still and do damage to himself, and less to his team. :)

that would be interesting i think

or maybe the other players can shoot it off you, but it will damage you - instead of them.

so then it turns into a little mini game, where you have to shake off the blob before your team mates shoot it off lol :)

can you imagine the chaos this would cause ? the aliens would love it :)
