Connecting Problem

when i use any method of connecting to a server, gamespy, the half-life built in client, or just the consoule, everything goes fine until it gets to the build server 2056...then it just sits there for about 5 min. after that it tells me it cannot not connect because it couldnt finish the connection attempt........

Uh, you might want to tell us what connection you are on.
Also, dont use gamespy, get ase from www.udpsoft.com/eye

Two questions:

1) Have you tried creating a LAN game?

2) Do all your other HL mods work fine?

I am having the same problem as well. I can start a lan game and it works fine and I have other mods such as cs, tfc, fa, dod and I can play them online just fine. I have a cable modem with a belkin router and I notice that when I try to do a search for servers in hl it can not find any and I lose connection to the internet until I reset the router.

you might want to try some port forwarding to your computer, but I've never used a belkin so I don't even know if they support it.

Be sure to uninstall NS, close ALL running programs, then reinstall NS and try again. Most issues like this come from an install failing or being damaged by other running apps. Then tell us how it went.

Have you tried the sound tweaks?

i.e. run dxdiag, then set audio hardware accel to none?

yea all of my other mods work fine, sans opera(cant find any servers). i am not running threw a router, and i do not experience loss internet connection.

i tried a uninstall, reinstall and the dxdiag sound tweak...but it is still not working.......

im on a hp pavillion(tear) 533 celeron, i think 64 megs of ram, on board video, on board sound. i know it sucks but i havent had a problem running any half life/quake mods
