launch pad won't start with steam

Hello,
I have the standard edition and can't start launch pad with steam. I can run it through my old folder in program files. Steam gives me a option to play NS2 or run Launch pad, it closes immediately after selecting.
I have checked the application data log file and it just shows the automatic saving of the non steam folder.

FIXED:
right clicked ns2 > properties > local files > verify integrity of game cache : 2 files were updated and I'm back in business. close it
