slow movement while evolving

When evolving, allow the player to very slowly move (perhaps at 1/10th the normal gorge walking speed). It could be animated like a larva, with a simple undulating motion.

This would provide a limited interactive experience while egging, rather than being bored just sitting there. It could also let players try to escape from attacking marines -- usually to no avail -- and would still make it more fun for both teams.

I like it. Could make for some good laughs.

One caveat: If someone squirmed into a small area, it would make spawning a big onos problematic. This could be fixed by making the egg quickly grow in size (if necessary) to the clip-size of the to-be-spawned alien, before the egg is able to move. That way, the egg would not be able to go into areas that are too small.

while that is more realistic, it would also make you the obvious egg to target.

walk into a room with your marine buddies and you see 3 small eggs and 1 huge one. correct me if i'm wrong but all eggs have the same health/armor right? so you'd all just naturally waste the huge egg first. not really a fair chance for the onos. so if you're going to have the eggs scale in size to avoid clipping, then their health/armor should grow proportionally to the egg size and the max health/armor of the spawning alien.

edit: +1 OP idea for moving egg.

Uh, so why not just change the egg's clip-size to the to-be-spawned alien's clip-size? The visual size wouldn't change so only the alien himself would know. Pretty obvious solution.

If we're going to be a modern game we really should try and handle things like breaking suspension of disbelief, and a huge rhino popping out of a skulk-sized egg could do that.
I don't suppose we could give the bigger egg more hp/armor to compensate for being an obvious target?

You could just have the egg aggressively expand its visual size at the end of its evolution. It isn't realistic, but at least it's not so visually jarring.

The egg should turn into a giant maggot that can crawl on walls.

Onos from the ceiling? Yes please!

I can imagine how this could make sense to add
It doesn't really add anything that could harm the opposing team.
    ADD IT :D
We can all use some lolz,
    and it's boring in there.
You could at least give us a gameboy or something while in there NS team!!!
