clarification
I know there's a flag to hide props and geometry from the commander, does that also mean when he drops medpacks and ammo and buildings, that same flag causes the dropped stuff to pass through it?

They should be "not Solid" to the commander. I think its time for a reminder of that problem.

i was afraid of that, but as long as its a known bug, i'm sure they'll get around to fixing it and i won't have to do anything extra while mapping.

Yep, known and fixed in the next patch

I'm not sure if i understand this fully.

Will the layers have an option to make invisable or to commander or will it be the layer name that flags them as such?

I know there will be more specific documentation later but i am kinda waiting for this option before i get to deep into my level and don't really want to have to go back and pull and place things into specific layers. I have allot of layers already...yikes.

Speaking of layers, i haven't even gotten into the groups yet. Should i be using these too?

They are Groups, not layers. Window > Groups

There so far will be 4 special group names, all you do is add a new group and name it, here are the 4 case sensitive? group names:

    CommanderInvisible

    CollisionGeometry

    AirWaypoints
New name for for PathWaypoints in next patch (Aka, these are for anything that flys like Build Bots & Drifters so they can pretty much go anywhere, like spanning over gaps or through vents etc. Must be about Marine (min) Chest height to shoulder height (Prefared).

    GroundWaypoints
Placed on the surface (ground level), Can't go through small vents or span gaps, pass only areas no smaller than the dimensions of the special black door. Anywhere a small vehicle (MASC) can get to or pass.

To ADD objects to the group, Select the group, Anything in it already will highlight, dont worry about that, deselect the objects if you want, it wont effect their assignment to that group, Select some objects then press the Blue Plus to add them or the minus to remove.

You should certainly be aware of some changes Breadman is making in the mapping guidelines when they get updated.

Thanks sgt, That clarifies allot. I had seen the post about groups somewhere but it seemed to be allusive in the unknown depths of posts.

Maybe a sticky of known/working flags could be posted as a sticky until some formal editor documentation is completed?
