Squad leader

<div class="IPBDescription">Needs gear</div>Being a squad leader should require purchasing an extra piece of gear, especially if they will support spawning at their location. A backpack (aka "squadpack") or similar item would fit the bill nicely. Presumably, it would be cheap enough that players are willing to buy it to contribute to the team, while expensive enough so that not everyone gets one.

Optional tweaks; to adjust balancing, gameplay, etc:
- Higher levels of "squadpacks" could be researched. They would be a bit more expensive and could allow either faster spawning, or a longer distance from the nearest command station.
- The squadpack could "drop" after a squad leader dies. If another squad member picks it up, it could again be used. It would be transferred back to the squad leader when they spawn in.
- If all of the squad members die, the "squadpack" would no longer work.

Let it detonate after a countdown.

Not sure I understand how squads will work, how the leader is selected, and whether or not you really want to spawn upfront?

What if you want a different weapon?

I believe the leader would be selected by the commander, and then grouped together with others to form a squad. So, if no players have the "squadpack", then no player could be the squad leader. There could still be regular squads without a squad leader, but there would be no spawning in (or other related advantages).

Note: Having a squadpack would be a passive item to the player. You could still have whatever weapon you wanted.
