Black Armour lost?

Hello! I pre-purchased the special edition of NS2 a while back, but didn't really bother playing the Alpha because I had a lot of uni work on when it went live, and then I just kinda forgot about it.
Until today that is, when I realised the game had gone into beta and I decided to get myself some of the NS2 pie. So I entered my activation code in Steam etc, and the email I recieved told me to right click > view DLC to get the special black armour.
Though it doesn't seem like I can get it anymore. Which is a bit annoying because I'm still using a special edition key, but it only recognises it as a beta key. Basically, because I didn't play the alpha, I've got no return at all for my SE purchase.
Which isn't that bad I guess, as I mainly bought it to support the devs. But it would be nice if there was a way for me to get the armour despite being late to the party.

For some reason I didn't actually recieve a key for the black armour in the emails I got, but when I got my details re-sent to me via the link in the FAQ, I was able to activate the black armour DLC.
