So what I suggest is when marine dies, then camera falls with him, like in some first person shooters. I can't remember which ones.
And here is where blur effect would slowly step in with sounds slowly going down and in few seconds later boom white screen and out of teleporter.
& pressing some key would bring flying camera mode on. This would also work with aliens too. Any ideas would this work?
