<div class="IPBDescription">challenge mode</div>There should be a way to concede from within the game, but still give a chance for a fun end-game. Rather than simply ending the match, a team concede would be a challenge to the other team to actually defeat you within a certain amount of time. During this time, your team (that conceded) would be made much weaker. If the other team fails to defeat you during this time, then THEY would be the ones made much weaker for the rest of the round -- giving you a chance to come back.
Here's an EXAMPLE of how it might be implemented. These could all be tweaked as necessary. It is just a way to start discussion...
Preconditions to conceding:
- Match has been running at least 5 minutes
- Your team controls no more than two tech points and two resource towers
- The enemy team controls at least two tech points and two resource towers
- Majority of team voted to concede (similar to how a commander might be ejected)
Once a team has conceded, they would be made much weaker:
- Team players and structures have half health
- Team resource towers produce res at half speed
- Team command structures (hives/command stations) show up on the opponent commander's map
- Team offensive structures shoot at half speed
- Team cannot build any new command structures
Gameplay after conceding:
- Concede mode would last 4-5 minutes
- The game would indicate clearly to both teams that concede mode has started
- A countdown would show and indicate to players how much time is left
- During this time, victory is gained by destroying all hives/command stations on the team
Failure to defeat conceding team:
- If the conceding team has not been defeated in time, then all weakness gets transferred to the other team (except restricting the building of new command structures).
- Gameplay is no longer in concede mode
- Either team may again concede

So they have absolutely no chance to win, but they can still have some FPS fun for a couple of minutes. Like injecting some counterstrike into NS2 once the game is over.
Does this sound good?
I am more thinking of times when the "winning" team is not trying to finish the match. They keep killing and upgrading, but never actually pushing. A concede would provide incentive for the winning team to actually push, since they have a limited time to act. If they continue to turtle, then they would be the ones who loose.
