Phase Gate idea

For what I've read so far, there is little chance, that there will be a Phase Gate like in NS1. My idea: make a Phase Gate building, which has to be built at a wall! It's a mix of Stargate and Portal.

I enjoyed NS1s phase gate; would be cool to have them back if they suit a purpose.

already been suggested - but i still really like the idea :)

but actually marines will not have phase gates - as they can teleport straight to their previous squad (by using the infantry portal after spawning)

HOWEVER - apparently gorges will be able to create almost exactly what you described :)

I suspect people will react strongly about the lack of Phase Gates once the Shift alien building gets put in the game. ;)

@OP: Good idea, but when taking Transponder enhanced IPs and Marine's being able to sprint, I don't know how much of a place PGs have in NS2. Then again, it's really hard to say without all the structures / research in-game.

be interesting if it was like portal and you could see where you are phasing too. it would either lead to "hey that place is under attack, ill phase through and save it" or "hey that place is under attack from an onos, ill go somewhere else instead"

I will only accept this if it looks like the time machine from Austin Powers.
(the black/white spinning circle you had to jump into in a funky way)

Since players can warp to their squads, I think PGs are out of the game.

Dunno if there's a decision though from the devs.

Lol I didn't know that's how the transponder worked, i thought it did wave re-spawns instead of marine-by-marine O.o

If that's the case, there is no need for PGs, especially since it would be weird to use the NS1 system of portal hopping in a game that's showing as much refinement as NS2, it would feel out of place.
