Commander suggestions

<div class="IPBDescription">Because they want to change it for next patch</div>So, UWQ mentioned that the commander interface will be changed, and since i tend to play as alien commander quite a lot, i'll try to say what i would like to see improved/changed. In the spirit of the "positive/negative" thread, lets keep this one simple too so that UWE actually has a chance to read it.
so (for aliens):
<ol type='1'><li>Make shortcuts work, they don't respond very often, and sometimes the do (the menu changes), but suddenly they are "undone".</li><li>Show visual indication for hive rally point, perhaps like SC2 with a dotted line from hive to rally point?</li><li>Draw a red area around each building while in building mode so that you know where you can build, now its a little bit "magic".</li><li>fix the status messages, often you can't read them (the stuff that tells you research complete etc)</li><li>make it easier to give commands to the aliens, for example mark a area as "defend"/"attack" etc.</li><li>selecting a running skulk is nearly impossible, perhaps make a shortcut / button to select the whole team?</li></ol>
Bonus:
Let the commander zoom in like in SC2 with the mousewheel, i found myself trying that many times to see whats going on in the field.
No marine comments from me, because i didn't play it enough to make a real judgment.
PS: i had a idea, why no change the way the alien commander works compared to the marine commander so that the alien commander cannot give commands to individual players, but he sets "waypoints" for the whole team that mark areas, like i mentioned, he could set a "attack" waypoint somewhere (that would be more like an area than a waypoint). Now i'm just not sure how to handle more than one of them and how to remove them. But it's an interesting idea.

Comments
1) Add a shortcut to jump between hives/CCs
2) When someone says 'Need ammo' etc, allow me to press SPACE to jump to their location to fulfill their request (or better yet, drop them something for me too!)
3) Let me rotate turrets by just clicking on one and then right/left click in the direction I want them to turn (as if I told them to move there), dont make me click the 'set target' button its slow to do that
4) Being able to select all friendlies on screen in a single click would be good
5) Make the 'Need medpack' etc messages that appear on the RHS clickable, allowing you to jump to their location
- Make the UI buttons work! Half the time they don't even respond and I need to click 10 times for it to work. Annoying.
- Let comm see the player name when I click on an alien player.
- Let comm place markers which give strong visual indications to alien players where to go/defend/attack. Please put this in the next patch.
- Make it easier for comm to place strutures. A lot of times I need to spend ages manouvering the screen so I can get the right angle to be able to place a structure.
- Let alien comm be able to recycle structures. If I need to build lots of structures in one area, which subsequently are not needed, there's nothing I can do and the server only becomes more laggy.
- The green messages which appear on the right side of the screen saying 'research complete' - they're too big and ugly. Besides I get messages in white text in the bottom right corner telling me about upgrades which have been completed.

# Ping bar - combines alerts, who is communicating, location, selection, status, squads into one nice bar down the right hand side of the screen, Similar to:

# Marine / comm interaction - Just needs general improvement.
Can't say i have any other things to add since the ui lag etc was said to be worked on already
The UI can still look good without obscuring the screen (which can contain useful information).
