<div class="IPBDescription">just come read this and comment if good or not</div>Okay there will be a button on the keyboard and this button can be holded down, this is going to be (hopefully) available for BOTH marines and aliens, this key will be called the UI key or something display key. (probably something easy to reach as it can be used alot.

When this button is holded down by any player this will happen:

a KEY WORD in this topic: holographic icon, now for all of you guys that ever played ns1 it will be something like that, like when a marine/alien asks for a medpack/healing the icon on top of em shows, like that but on a large scale with perhaps minor detail about what the thing is.

(marines)

ANY players infront of you will have a sort of holographic see through display on top of them, there will be a small icon on top of any player and it will show you what weapon they are holding. And if they have what other items (EXAMPLE hes holding a welder or whatever gets implemented in to ns2 later on) ALSO there will be a display telling how much health+armor and ammo they currently have.

When this guide display button is holded down THERE will be a holographic display on the top of their screen OR in the middle of the location where they are (1 of these 2 ideas, not sure which is better) and this will say EXACTLY what location they are in. this is freaking useful and can save time of looking at a mini map because you know where the hell you are.

When this guide display button is held down ALL structures in the area that are in your sight will have a sort of holographic icon on top of them saying EXACTLY what building they are AND with perhaps small details?

Command center- Command your troops from here?

Armory- Armor,Health and ammunition here?

ALSO when this guide display key is held down it will have a holographic icon at ANYTHING that can be used (an example is like a door that opens and closes. a door would have a icon showing that it is a door and it is a entity of the map that moves.

This can be used on future maps if there is a elevator. a moving tram (is there?) or anything else.

The display key can also highlight with a visible icon on top of power nodes and other things ETC.

(aliens)

ANY players infront of you will have their lifeform icon displayed in a suitable holographic like icon on top of them, this is useful to know whos over there in the super dark unvisible corner of the map. ALso their health will be displayed (armor? or is that same as health)

Any structures of the aliens will be shown with a holograhic icon on top with perhaps a minial detail of what it is, example:

Resource tower- Collects carbon and plasma for your team

Hive- This is your XXXXX and you can command your lifeforms from here.

Hydra- This shoots at enemy players on sight\

ALSO any where you go, if you held down your guide display key the location that your in will be shown either on your screen whereever your looking or in the area your in (not sure which is better/cooler)

Not sure about giving the aliens detail about certain entities like elevators /doors or other vehicle or machinery, is it okay for them as well? i think so but up to you guys.

ANOTHER THing that can be implemented:

this is a guide display, and perhaps this could come as the hint system? for example if you hold your guide display key when you switch to a certain weapon it gives info on it and how it is used? only when the button is held so certain players that are pro can avoid this distraction?

Same with certain alien life forms and so and so. just an idea

WHY THE @&!$^ DO WE NEED THIS AND WHY IS IT SOO IMPORTANT?

#1 reason- Some people made the decision to not buy ns2 primarily for its depth of knowledge that needs to be learned. Players had to learn where is this and oh this does this and ahh so i get there with this or oh come help me in whatever location. THIS HELPS NEW PLAYERS/UNCOnfortable players feel accepted and welcome into a NEW game they just bought.

THIS does the following:

many posts( or just 1?) about making the game more understandable is solved by this.

The use of the mini map may becomne minimal due to this

The constant questions and stratagies asked about certain areas/maps may be reduced by this

the unnessesary questions to other players in game about (ok wait before we go how much health do you guys have? oh... opps because i already rushed in and i died i didnt know you were low and you backed)

or things like:

OK LETS GO KILL, how come you didnt help me kill him?.... how was i suppost to know that you were out of ammo..... or that you only just had a shotgun against a lerk that was 20 meters away.

what do you think?

I don't really think this should be a learning tool necessarily.. unless you can turn off the extra text explaining to me that a extractor extracts resources sort of thing. Just give the basic "Command Center L2" & health status.

Marine button: basically the button brings up Player name, health/ammo, load out information. As well as any structures in your views Name/level &Health.

So sort of like tool tips you can toggle on and off by holding a key. Not a bad idea.. There's potential use for this if your trying to repair bases or weld player armor so you can easily view what needs to be fixed or whom to repair. Or hypothetically if squad leaders get any sort of items to help squad out

Here is a mock of the commander sort of "All Status" button i made.. its bout 5th image down.. sort of commander version of the idea you present

but this is also to help players know where the hell they are, sometimes you just gotta take out the mini map to know where u are and then guess what you got sneak attacked. (relating from ns1)
