<div class="IPBDescription">bio, bio, biomass!</div>Whats about a biomass building?
It can only build on dynamic infestation and protects with his bones from enemy flamer/grenades the hive.
Because the marines have a lot of distance weapons, the aliens not.
Or a upgrade for the hives which change the hive model to something with bones.
very simple example:

This doesn't really appeal to me sorry.
The bone layer detracts from the overall view (and dare I say beauty) of the Alien Hive.
Not only that but when dynamic infestation comes it would be very hard for the Marines to focus fire on the Hive as it would blend in too much.

    Its Luminescence helps both teams,
Aliens know what to protect instantaneously,
    Marines know their target immediately.

A defense upgrade on the Hive would be quite bad in my opinion.
We have the hive for a reason, for defense and offense.
The commander should take the necessary steps to protect the base,
if he/she didn't, then it wouldn't be a realistic RTS now would it?

The biomass building is coming in the form of the Shade, but only to produce Dynamic Infestation.
However we may see the return of the Gorge's web if they do not have the ability to build shades (alt secondary to hydra placing).
The web would more or less be a obstacle for the Marines to the hive (if it is put in game).
