I can't properly test the flamethrower

Hi everyone!. I actually know another that flamethrower thread has just closed. But I don't want to point that the flamethrower its or is not actually balanced. I want to point out that I can't test it.

I'll explain myself. Actually the game it's on a period of optimization and we have several problems with fps. Fps tend to drop to the "unplayable" line. A line where you can only barely follow moving objects and you can't aim because the mouse start to have some drunken effect.

Anyways because human its a smart animal (our commanders are the best aliens, don't forget that!) we can "learn" how to play in a stable framerate even with 10-20 fps. But everytime the fps change we need to learn again how the moving objects move around and how we need to move the mouse to point exactly where we want to point.

On low fps, or bad ping situations, all the "spray & pray" weapons dominates the combat. Because even with bad aiming you can still get some hits. Included the "targeting hits" (only few becuse of the the framerate) and a lot of random hits. This is one of the reason coz marines suck that much at start.

Actually the flamethrower has 2 issues. One of them its already known (shoot throw walls). The other issue it's the dinamic light source that the flamethrower makes. This normally substract 2 or 3 fps. Everytime the light source its directly on the screen. On a strafing and dodging fight, plus to the low framerate, eventually, makes that you lose the marine from your sight, recovering that 3 fps, track him again, substracting 3 fps, etc.

On a 40-60 fps environment thats its hardly noticiables, but in a 20-10 fps, a 3 fps drop really make a difference on the way the camera and things move around the screen.

I'm not going to suggest anything because I'm only informing, that at least I can't track a marine with a flamethrower if he knows how to dodge. So I can't really judge the flamethrower overall balance.
