My thoughts as a old player

So I got the game a few days ago and I really like it. I played NS1 for years and have no touched it in years. So here is my list of some things that I would like to see and be fixed in NS2.

Commanders, setting way points for players is very hard and does not seem to work. Something on the screen showing that it is placed would be great along with something in the interface. I would really need this on the alien side. Its hard to be the commander and not be able to tell people where to go. And when you say west, WTF is west?

This leads me to the next part of navigation, is there a mini map you can pull up? Maybe not on the screen the whole time but a map to look at and see the points and the other players. The aliens have it kinda with the dots on the screen. Its the future we can at least know where each other are on the map. Also label the parts, it took me a few times on a map to even know the names of the rooms. It has way to high of a learning curve.

On the commander view, block out the rafters! It is so hard to see even in your own base when you have a crane there. it makes putting stuff down very hard. And where are the MAC or drifters going? They seem to just fall into walls in that view. Clicking around is very hard at times.

Whips, they suck and are under powered. They need more range. Why do they hit structures and turrets dont? I saw a whip build right next to an active turret and it did nothing. Maybe make whips have an upgrade to make them into a range attacker, like grow spines like a massive hydra.

Do macs and drifters cost anything? I dont see my money go down when I make them but it says they cost alot of money.

Can we get electrify on the collectors again? Or maybe the power nodes? Its a late game thing for sure.

Flame thrower, its crazy over powered but I like that you dont get blinded by it anymore. Just fix the ammo screen, I never know how much I have left in it till I am empty.

Scanners, what do they do? I cant get them to do anything.

I see alot of drops on some servers but I am giving that to the beta status.

Gouge needs to be a more active player, like being able to make more than just hydras.

The engine is great and love the fade effects. Can you add in things like AA, AF, and vsync?

I love this game so far I know it will only get better.

Welcome. Glad you are liking NS2.

Yes, at the moment the way points are not working very well, and a LOT of reworking of the commander UI in general is going on currently. So expect the UI to get more responsive, streamlined, efficient, and informative over the next few patches. And

Not at the moment, but that is getting added in very soon, as well. And it will have the names of the map locations on it.

Whips are actually quite effective, and have a good amount of range to them, it just helps to be clever with the placement of them (behind doors, hidden in corners, etc.). They also will be able to be upgraded to have range, as well, where they throw a glowing ball of acidic ooze that will explode and do area effect damage. The model and animations are set up for that already, the feature just hasn't been implemented on the programming side yet.

I won't go through your whole list, but we are planning on either fixing or adding or changing stuff that will address most of those issues, we just can't do it all at once. Thanks for the feedback, and please be patient while we continue to implement new features and work on improving and finishing the game.

It was in the wiki that gorges can build shifts (the movement chamber equivalent).

So gorges build shifts and hydras... and get late-game web (fingers crossed).
