Mouse lag and not playable

I downloaded ns2 today and found it is not playable. The mouse lag is intens and it dosen't help when I lower the grahpics to low and res to 1024 x

my system specs:

Intel core 2 duo t5800 @ 2.00ghz
4gb ram
windows 7 32
Nvidia geforce 9300m GS 512mb

I can play games like dod source perfectly, but ns2 is not playable. Is the engine so different?

I'm not sure if opengl or direct 3d has anything to do with it.

Can anyone help me out?

I remember with my old desktop ns would lag if I didn't set low priority for hl.exe in the task manager. Usually solved the problem for me, without doing that it was unplayable...

Yes, I remeber that aswell. I have the problem in ns2. I might be on the wrong forum?
