What Cs Players Think...

3rd Person Starcraft
Well...though I'm partial to NS (it's so much better), I went on to a CS server. Naturally, I started...err..."pimping" Natural Selection, and a couple that had tried it were not very responsive. Why, you ask? Well, it's because they think it's Starcraft in 3rd person perspective. I guess to an individual looking at the mod for maybe...5 minutes, this might appear to be the case, but they just wouldn't listen to my arguments!
Alas, I think this community does a lot better without some of the jerks from the CS community (no offense), though as this mod expands, I am seeing more, and more unsavoury individuals. Still, if you find a CS game with good players that are rational and nice...it's almost as fun as NS!

the Zerg and Khaara have very similair units (not necessarily looks, but use and attacks)
Skulk = Zergling
Fade = Hydralisk
Lerk = Mutalisk
Onos = Ultralisk
but i think they did a good job making it original, i mean it feels kinda starcrafty, but its only a superficial likeness
but it would be First person - 3rd person is a cam from outside the model (ie youd see yourself)
Beat me to it.

Hell, "Starcraft in first person" is exactly what I was looking for until I heard about NS.

Haha, the wost part about CS is the people that play it.
Counter-Strike is a very simple game. There are guns, and there are places you move with those guns to either blow up a site, or stop the other team from doing so. Rounds take less than two minutes, ideally.
Natural Selection has resource management, expansion, teamwork, etc. It's a complex game. Rounds that take less than 20 minutes were short, rushing games.
Counter-Strike players who prefer simplicity may be turned off by the depth of Natural Selection. To each his own - some of us like simple games, and some like complicated ones.
There was an NSplayer... He sudden said to us all:
CSn00b: "This game is for f@gs
The rest of us: ....................
CSn00b: "I will now play the one and ultimate counter strike
Us: ..............................?
And no, I aint making that up.
I suggest you shut the **obscenity** up and watch your generalizations.
I always suspect someone of being a CS-er when every single time they get killed (i.e. lots) they type
"k bs"
"BSBSBSBS"
"man this is BS"
and so on.
One of the big differences is in the length of the games. A typical CS round can be over in two minutes, whereas an NS game can last for several hours (unless there's a devastating skulk rush at the beginning).
I tihnk CS newbies expect to be able to just run at the aliens and wipe them out with their m4d pwning sk1lz!!!11! and get upset when they find it just doesn't work that way.
CS has its' place in the FPS community. Its' simplicity allows it to concentrate on being more of a game of reflexes. I think every FPS has their own particular "blend" of reflex and strategy. Some like high on reflexes and low on strategy, some like high on reflex and high on strategy, we have our own preferences so we gravitate towards a particular "blend" of FPS'.
CS is reflexed based (most FPS' are), and light on strategy.
NS is also be reflex based, but heavy on strategy.
My own personal FPS tastes moved away from Frag Counts and more towards Teamplay. I have played CS, FLF, DoD, TF2, R6, RS, GR, MoHAA, RTCW and BF:42 just to name a few. All our tastes change, and with that change you move from game to game looking to satisfy your newest cravings. NS happens to be the closest thing to my current cravings in a FPS. It is by no means perfect, but it is damn near it.
With that said I'll get to the point.
Who the **obscenity** cares what CS players think.
If you want to do something, next time you play CS and you notice a guy on your team communicating and then start to complain that there isn't enough teamwork on CS you go ahead and tell him about NS. I know there are people like that out there because that was me before I moved on to other FPS'. I got tired of the lack of teamplay on pubs (I don't have time to Clan unfortunately) and I moved on to other games.
As you tell him about NS people will probably say, "NS is for F@Gs" (Sidenote: F@G is not an insult. You sweaty, unwashed, donkey testicle licker... now that is an insult) or "NS sucks" just ignore them. You're not talking to them. Just give the guy the basics, tell him a couple cool stories, send him to the website and let destiny take its course. You never know, there might even have been a few other players with the same dissatisfaction on their minds, they might read the details and get interested in NS themselves and go check out the Website. I think that would be more helpful then "pimping" NS on a CS server.
I just don't understand why anyone cares what CS players think.

They think they like CS better then NS; and they are right.
We think we like NS better then CS; and we are right.
We're all right! Yay!
Edit: And you're right. I bet if we took 20 teamplayers from the NS community and put them on CS I think we will have just as great of a time because we will all use strategy and tactics and work together as a team. It's just the way we like to have fun!
As Fantasmo siad, if someone who regulary plays CS disses NS, so be it. Let him play his game, and we'll play ours. It's not a big deal.
I would of course respect him/her more if they simply said 'Sorry guys, this game isn't for me. Cya' rather then 'BS! this suckz!'. The only people who would annoy me are people recycling buildings and the like, but I seem to have been fortunate and not encountered that yet.
TF2 = Team Fortress 2 right?
I've played most games online, even games like Ultima online lol, so yeah im a online vet you could say, and nothing has come close to NS for me, at first glance it is a lot like the old AvP, of which i loved and played like mad, was my first game played online, so i would compare it to that, having never played SC on or offline, but for me this game owns the rest out there, the amount of teamwork needed in this game is massive, and i would say fantastic, finally a game where everyone must work for the good of all, and not some rubbish like CS where players just run around or camp.
As for the general CS player base, yes most are complete wa**ers, some are ok but those are mainly the good clans, in the end CS became a thing to do to waste some time, never was it anything to look forward too, but NS! oh man i can't seem to put the damn thing down, damn you all for making a great game
Will it ever became the No 1 mod? of course it will, thats already agreed, its just a matter of time that more and more players play it and more servers go up for it.
My son can't wait to play it at school, his school has a massive online clan, and i have put it forward that this game joins their list of games to play in the LAN tourney's and normal school stuff, the own a massive Jolt server to which i'm hopeing this game will be played on, right now its just a uber CS server, holds about 36 i think or maybe 32, cant remember which
So as time goes by this game will become the No 1, but let's also hope that those idiot CS players don't come over and play it, or even if they do they won't understand what todo so they leave
denizen is right...
Perhaps some of you really just need to watch what the **obscenity** you say and quit making these generalizations.
I play CS AND NS, and I find BOTH to be fun. Yes CS is full of idiots, but don't think NS has it's share.
Also...CS has SO many players, SO many servers, SO many clans. That means there is a much higher chance that you will run into idiots.
Yes, NS is great! I love it! I know you do to. That doesn;t mean you should show it by bashing CS and giving people who play it - crap.
