    i absolutly adore the idea of the plasma rifle, it will add more of a strategy aspect (im taking that "plasma" will have a specific trait that other weapons dont have? (armor piercing?)

    for the claw are you sure that it is not a melee weapon but just a hand? really?

    can you justify on that align

    I think this has been stated to 'not' be a weapon, but a visual reference to the EXO suit.

    It must be sort of mech like, so you can see your extended hand as you 'stomp' about.

    i think it should be melee, cory already said its left mouse button, right mouse button and you upgrade the other hand if you choose to dualwield. it's only fair the hand is melee since the exo loses the switchaxe.

    The Exo suit's claw should be able to reach into the hive and pull the alien commander out :D

    As I mentioned in another thread, the Exo "claw" is really a hand. We are intending for it to have some melee aspect, though we still have to resolve exactly how its going to work. There's lots of fun ideas we have for it, its just a matter of how practical any of them will be to actually implement.

    How about if you have no weapons and dual wield the 'claws' then you could pick up marine structures and reposition them or with 1 claw gives u the ability to pick up small structures like turrets.

    I vote for a melee attack with blow back. Slower than the Axe obviously.

    even if something like grabbing a skulk or smashing a hydra between your hydraulic claws would be awesome, it would be difficult to handle, difficult to balance and maybe even useless in the end.

    so i vote for a strong, maybe slow melee attack that might even onehit a skulk or so to make it worth being used (and not instantly replaced by a second minigun or railgun).

    It's probably come up, but the idea of either a drill-like tool or hydraulic/pneumatic/electric type of tool (impact/jackhamer, power saw, laser...whatever, I'm just coming up with types of tools that would have really neat audio effects or visual designs associated with them) would fit the overall feel pretty well I think. Marines seem to have a rugged mechanical-ness to them...maps now and in NS tended to be themed around mining/exploration (Is that what Frontiersmen do? They DO wear blue denims under that armor I think, haha). I really feel that the current look of the Marine is like a futuristic "working man" geared to kick some alien butt.

    edit: I think Dead Space has been influencing me lately -- cutting/ripping up alien structures with some brutality served by a construction tool would just be so satisfying.

    The claw should be used to manipulate the environment. I can't really think of any ways though that won't throw off map balance (throwing crates/barrels around).

    As long as I can catch a fade in the claw ala Aliens, everything will be good. Or, picking up and sacrificing a gorge to enrage the aliens into attacking foolishly.

    I imagine the claw or hand being a powerful and viable melee alternative to the minigun or railgun - but with the twist of the exosuit having a slow turnspeed so that fx. fades would have time to blink in, attack with secondary slow piercing blow to the back of it and blink away
