<div class="IPBDescription">Thanks Valve/Beta Update :D</div>(This isn't 100% NS2 but it's enough to warrant a position in the General Discussion forum.)

The latest Steam beta client allows you press F12 in any game (with the Community Overlay enabled) and the screenshots will be uploaded to that magical thing we call The Cloud™© and the images are then viewable on your Steam Profile Page... like so:

<a href="http://steamcommunity.com/id/DY357LX/screenshots?tab=library" target="_blank">http://steamcommunity.com/id/DY357LX/screenshots?tab=library</a>

Tested inside of Dead Space 2 and Natural-Selection 2 and it works well!

Let's see your screenshots!

NinjaEdit: Info on the beta client is here: <a href="http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1740023" target="_blank">http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/show...d.php?t=1740023</a>

This is something UWE should be considering (anyway) in terms of marketing.

People love taking their own 'ownage, and cool and PERSONAL' screenshots, and flogging them round the internet.

Are any of these images saved to file, or are they just sent to the cloud?

Apparently they've saved to disk as well. I'm in the process of finding out where exactly.

Also, my Steam Profile in Firefox says I've not taken any screenshots, but in Steam it lists 4. Odd.
    I guess it'll update eventually.

    NinjaEdit2: Screenshots are saved to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<YOUR ID>\760\remote\

There's then a folder with a number which (I think) represents the ID of the game. For Dead Space 2 it's 47780 and then inside of there is a Thumbnails folder and the screenshot itself. (NS2 is 4920 etc.)

Good stuff! Soon everyone will have their own "Oh look, my shiny Natural Selection vacation photostrips are online! Everyone watch and rate pl0x!"
I dont say that like its a bad thing.

YES! Thank you Valve. And cloud integration. Gooooood work. Unless you start uploading large images mid game and get my ass eaten because of lag.

Awesome! I've been using fraps to take screenshots so far. I suspect UWE will add this at some point anyways.

Cool, thanks for pointing this out. At some point I'll be adding in a screen shot key, but it's good to know there's another alternative until I get to it.

This would mean I need SteamCloud enabled? But it lags my games...

If this is part of Steamworks, couldn't it be tied into game code? As the Runteh stated, people love to post their "ownage moments"

Sorry for this off topic question but how is Dead Space 2?

They thought of this! Uploads don't happen until you exit the game. It works really well, I'm digging it so far.

Also, Dead Space 2 is excellent IMO. (stock disclaimer: assuming you like this kind of game) Very, very polished.
