Commander "reveal" ability

The "reveal" ability could be done by a commander to any player on their team. It would effectively show that player to the entire enemy team -- by making them visible to both the players on the ground and the enemy commander. The enemy team would need no upgrades to be able to see it.

Possible implementation:
- Cheap (0-2 res), and possibly take adrenaline
- From the alien perspective, this would be seen via hive sight (so you could see them through walls)
- From the marine perspective, this would be seen via observatory sight
- Accompanied by a sound emitting from the player, that any nearby players could hear
- Visually recognizable by the target player
- Not physically hurt the targeted player
- Fades away after a short time

This could be used for various reasons, including:
1. Distracting the enemy team
2. Setting an ambush
3. Punishing a player who doesn't follow the commander's orders

I agree griefing could be a problem. Perhaps it could have a refresh time of 30 seconds between "casts" - which would minimize the problem.
However, a commander has at least some right to treat his team as he sees fit. If the team doesn't like it, they can eject him.

Why would UWE include such as obvious griefing button?

to me it seems like a useless feature. it would be obvious to the enemy team that something is fishy if all of a sudden one of their players becomes visible to everyone... anyone with half a mind would obviously proceed with caution.

the best way to dicipline a player who dosn't follow orders is to not support them.

Marking your own team members for the enemy team is just pointless and silly.

How about: Give commanders the ability to mark out an enemy for his team to attack (with audible alert, visually similar to Hunter's Mark in WoW, or Predator target tracking in AVP). This will allow the commanders to support their own team better. eg. The Marine commander can point out a Lerk hiding in a vent.

There need to be some limits, of course. Such as, only allow targeting of enemies that are already in sight, and the mark would disappear if the target leaves LoS. Also, only one target could be marked at any time.

It would be very difficult to actually set up the plan when commanders have so much more important things to focus on.

Besides, aliens can lure marines into traps without that 'reveal' ability. Make a hydra wall, run around the corner and get a marines attention, then run back, the marine will follow and get hurt or killed when he turns the corner.
