the one above is the only one i know so far, are there anymore which i can use? (which doesnt hinder the atual wordl though, seeing entities or objects disappear wouldn't be nice.
reason? terrible computer (for now)
any commands that removes the awesome textures and changes them to just simple colour textures to maximise my performance ETC

r_flash false was another one which improved performance, but since Flash has been removed and replaced by Lua graphics, this no longer is a cause of slowdown (well less of a slowdown actually). Also there is still some flash left in the main menu last I heard, but that should not impact game performance...
There is also a thread around somewhere which discusses modifying some latency settings or timers related to the garbage collector, which make the game somewhat smoother. But Max is actively engaged in that as well so those improvements will probably see the light of day in buil163

Too bad this is also the cause of a lot of confusion, we simply can't see the power backing up the servers and some people draw conclusions about the game, based on the lower-end server performance :/
Although it should be a default right now, for future reference incase it's auto turned on.
Garbage collector also seems to show relationship with occlusion culling, causing major client side hitches as well. But you're right, the server performance has a greater impact at this point.
The current performance problems don't really have much to do with graphics. But yeah the current settings don't seem to make much difference to FPS, there could probably be some reworking of those to find the best performance increases.
I suspect they'll do this eventually. Eventually, they will optimize the server-side enough that client hardware (probably meaning graphics, but could also be the CPU) will become the limiting factor. I have some pretty high-end hardware and I'm only getting 40-80fps in NS2 (compared to 80-200fps in other games such as L4D2). So they still have a ways to go client-side, but that seems like low priority right now.
happy valentines day?
