Playing Aliens is soooo frustrating right now.

    why?
I played about 8 rounds with the new build and the marines didn't win once....

Yeah, you're going to have to elaborate. Games seem to be won mostly by the skill of the commanders right now.

Although with equally capable commanders on tram, aliens will probably lose because of the limitations of the DI mechanic.

On rockdown it probably works better, or if the marine commander doesn't know how to expand/marine team can't fight skulks properly.

In the view matches I played I noticed that marines often walked alone and therefore were easy prey for skulks. Alien Night vision makes it even easier to get them.

I think teamplay is also partially an issue as well as the skill of commanders. So it's hard to say if a faction is really stronger then the other.

I've won all games I commanded on either side, but you're right the commander is important but if you have a team that doesn't listen you can command the crap out of them it's no use :-)

I think it's always difficult to judge 'balance', especially during beta/public servers.

What I would suggest, and have already suggested is to get a group of players that are half decent and understand the game. Get them on a server (5v5) and go from there.

Much more fun and certainly more tactical.

I think aliens are very easy to play when you are against an unorganised team. As Gorge.ous said <i>"marines often walked alone and therefore were easy prey for skulks"</i>

when the marines work as a team it gets quite hard but still possibly.

In my opinion the teams are nearly balanced at the moment. As soon as DI is up a running properly the teams will be fair.

    That's not true.
After the early game, marines are heavily favoured when they get shotguns and flamethrowers.
Marines can also place RTs right from the start, while aliens have to wait for DI.

I've had a fairly average win/loss ratio for my games. One time I was playing Alien com on rockdown. I had 3 hives, blanketed all but the marine start in infestation, Marines still won. Team mates didn't defend hives when asked and they spread themselves too thin attacking marine start. Nobody listened to my instructions and as a result we lost.

Playing footsoldier on tram, we had a good com but he made terrible decisions. He didn't take double res early and the aliens covered everywhere even marine start in infestation. We managed to clear it out and take double res for a short period of time. Held off 3 fades invasions a few times.

    In my opinion!

I was talking about tram and my personal experience. Might be a streak, bad teamplay on alien side against good marines or whatever, but we had a hard time to get anything done and got dominated hard core. When flamethrowers are up it got pointless.
