Please remake the flamethrower to the TF2 style pyro

you may be skeptical reading this but you wont if you read it all
CURRENT FLAMER'S DAMAGE MECHANIC:

weak initial damage, fairly high damage over time.

TF2 STYLE PYRO's DAMAGE MEANIC:

moderate damage over time, but not lethal to kill someone if they were just set on fire, however the initial flames deal fairly high damage which means if they were to stay into the blasted flames of the flamer they would certainly die.

WHAT I WANT:

basicly the TF2 Pyro style flamer, i think it makes sense because at the moment it takes two full fuel canisters of flamethrower into a fade in order to kill it.

I know that the flamethrower is to be a support weapon but come on lets get realistic here?

atually try it in game, flame the fade to death, good luck!

Maybe it's intentional that an expensive fade designed to provide a credible threat against entire groups of marines doesn't die in seconds to a single relatively inexpensive weapon that even somebody with Michael J Fox disease can manage to use effectively

from this day on, flamethrowers shall be called "parkinson firesticks"
each purchaser of the parkinsonstick will have a "handicapped person" icon appear above his head, granting him the right to use the disabled persons infantry portal to respawn

I hate how things in games just burst into flames like they are made out of paper if there is even a hint of a flame next to them. I think it be nice for once to have the flamethrower take some skill by making it require for you to deal X amount of damage in X amount of time before what you're shooting starts on fire.

It would reward players for being able to maneuvered around the flames so you don't catch on fire. At this point its like a death trap to attack someone with a flamethrower, you're almost 100% certain to catch on fire. With this mechanic you wont feel as cheated when you die from the flames.

It used to be this way, but according to general consensus it was overpowered; now it doesn't deal damage so much as it debilitates and disorients.

god i hate when you post. bad bad bad. shotties kill fades, not flamers. flames already stop fades from regenerating energy so they have to run away not blink away. use your pistol baddie or roll with a teammate who's packing a shottie and watch fades drop.

    +1
But not that much damage though. I would say something like 50?

I also think that the following should also be added to the flamethrower:

QUOTE (twiliteblue @ Feb 19 2011, 03:17 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

The flamethrower just needs a range reduction, for now. It is needed ingame to destroy DI, as well as repelling Lerks and Fades. Frankly, the flamethrower's damage is so low now (48 DPS), by itself, even killing a Skulk takes at least 2 seconds. Although I would like to see a cap on the duration of the burn, as well as a reduction of the size of the flame cone.

Both of these things would make the flamethrower MUCH more fair in the game and will give the Aliens a chance.

yes to burn duration cap, no to damage reduction, maybe to cone size reduction, yes to volumetric flames and fixing the particle collision.

Damage reduction? I didn't say anything about damage reduction...
I think the damage should stay the same... for now...

I agree, even tho im happy for his/her enthusiasm i always end up facepalming my self sore.

Flamer is intended to be a supplementary weapon, primarily for clearing infestation and aiding other people when it comes to dealing with Khaara players.
If you want to omgwtfbbqownlulz people in the face i suggest you wait for exeskeleton and miniguns (and pray you have backup).
