Time limited Beta/Demo for LAN play?

Hey,

I know it's kinda greyzone question, but nevertheless :-)

We are hosting a lan party twice a year with about 45 friends (all personal friends, no unknow persons, next one mid april) and the last few lanparties we mainly played TF2. But since I am now a huge fan of HS2 ;) and none of the other persons preorderd the game I was thinking about promoting the game at that lanparty. But we are offline there and it is really hard to show them the game offline with only one person playing :)
So the question is there a way of getting a kind of a "time limited" version/beta/demo of the game for offline lan play? Or is it allowed (and technical possible) to share my game (in steam offline mode) for that lan party. I know this is really at least a very very grey zone. At least, if it's even possible to share "my version" with a new patch their version will be unusable (and therefore maybe convince them to preorder :) ).

Don't get me wrong.. i don't condom piracy at all .. i am just asking if there is a way to show and let them play NS2 at that lan party and would love to play a round or two with friends&beer at that lanparty.

I hope someone can help and it's not illegal in any way.

    Not likely, simply because the game is still in heavy development. After it has gone gold, I guess it is in UWE's best interest to get those occasional 4 days free weekends thingies going on Steam as promo material. But for now, I don't see it happening...

    It wouldn't make sense to do this, especially in the current state the game is in, but even after release a LAN party sneak peek doesn't really make any sense. A thing that would make sense are guest passes, I never understood why they were limited on Steam. Or a Trial Version like Global Agenda does it.

    how about allowing people to play for free but only letting them use lmgs and only be skulks. have it say *TRIAL before their name on the scoreboard. that or time limited guest passes.

    Thus destroying all public games with everyone who didn't pay only playing as skulks and everyone who paid playing as Onos etc.

    I say; providing a timed demo would be most optimal. Though it should be a post-release agenda.
