<div class="IPBDescription">might have been just the server running well though.</div>Hey guys,
Been awhile since I started a topic.
Gonna post my rig specs first:
i7 920 @ 2.66Ghz
Nvidia GForce 470GTX
3 GB DDR3 Corsair Dominator RAM
1000W Corsair PSU
300GB Raptor HDD
yadda yadda yadda.
Anyways, I bought S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Call of Pripyat and was having problems with running it. Loading times were incredibly slow, some slow times when entering new areas, interacting with certain characters etc. Some of these loading times would actually take up 10 minutes. It was pretty brutal. But I found a fix! And this does appply to NS2 as well!
The first thing to do if this fix applies to you is if you're running Windows 7. If so continue reading this.
Go to your Steam icon, right click, and go to properties.
Go to your compatibility tab.
If it says compatible in Vista mode and is greyed out(uncheckable), this is a problem.
If you aren't in this situation, you don't need to continue reading. If you do, continue with the following:
1.Hit start->run->regedit
2.Go to key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
3.Look for a entry with your path to steam.exe
4.Delete that entry
5.If you dont find it there try HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
I hope this helps some of you as it really did for me. And it will also help you with S.T.A.L.K.E.R!!! :D

No. It's a fix so that you ARENT in compatible mode with Vista.
Some demons are messing with your pc.

There was at one point I got a pop-up asking to run Steam in compatibility, and it forced it anyways even though I'm sure I would cancel that sort of thing. I dont remember exactly why, but I never really noticed it. I noticed some games were loading slower, but had no idea it was related to that. Then I bought S.T.A.L.K.E.R: CoP and noticed the ugly load times. Did some research, did the fix, and it worked, and improved my loading times for almost about everything. Basically this is just a fix for people who MAY be in that situation who are experiencing slow loading times. My game performance seemed to be a bit better as well, but it's most likely the server I was playing on.
Just spreading the word about this fix, as it's incredibly handy.
And yes, 3gb of RAM :)
