Just think the gameplay should be further optimized

Well, i've asked my friends and most of them thought that the game lagged too much. They had lower than 20 fps for most of the time and they had to set the graphic to rediculously awful. I'm having the same trouble here. My laptop was bought in 2008, and it was good for that time: Intel Core2 Duo Cpu P8600 2.40Hz, 3GB memory, Nevidia GeForce 9600M GT. However, i usually have 10~15 fps and have to set the graphic to worst to be able to run the game. Is it because my laptop is really bad, or just because the game is not completely optimized yet?
It would be really sad if me and my friends all have to buy new computers just for NS2 (although we all love NS)

A 9600GT is a poor desktop card, much less a mobile one. You would have trouble playing any modern game, good looking game with that. Granted, it should do better than it is doing, and that will come with time and optimisation. But still, don't expect too much.
can you guys, you know, do it faster :)
i think everyone would prefer normal smooth running, over extra features.
should be able to run any game, at a resonable resolution like 1280x720 and medium gfx settings very smoothly. I had one and it ran CoD 4 perfectly (which isn't much different looking from NS2)
Call of Duty 4 was released in 2007, developed since 2005. The technology specifications are going to be much lower than a 2010/2011 game, that's like saying my Geforce 2 could handle Half-Life(1999) so it should be able to handle Half-Life 2(2004). See how I just made a blanket statement much to your own and got it completely wrong?
As far as I'm aware too, IWEngine 2 (a kitted out iD Tech 3 may I add) doesn't have fully dynamic lighting neither, where as Spark for example has such a heavy lighting system.
EDIT: And there's some theoretical law going with the smaller chipsets become the quicker they advance or something similar, which I'd like to take in to account with this here too.
a) laptops can never do what desktops can performance wise (especially when bought by ppl who dont know what theyre doing)
b) 9600 gt was sub par even when it was NEW years ago
to see where your card stands:

an 8800 is an upgrade from what youre using. that card is half a decade old.
also.

I said that, iD Tech 3 :P <3

Note how CoD 4 comes up an average of 22FPS on high.
