At my college campus all day today teaching courses and going to my own courses. I'd appreciate feedback on the update. Hopefully the Lua binding update makes a difference on the server loads.

First impression is, small advancements into the right direction, still no major breakthrough in performance or gameplay or feature fullness.

The expectations are that this game is going to be huge eventually, not that they can take it from being one state a week ago, to what you are asking for a week later. Clearly nothing has progressed like that so far, so don't expect it to ever.
Just enjoy the ride and be a little patient. As for this patch, it has been brilliant for me.

I don't think any one is saying the contrary. I was just curious on the changes in performance, no matter how small.

Based on the tracker it would seem that the Lua binding layer hasn't been implemented in the game yet, only created.
The Lua binding layer optimizations were done in a separate testing version that Max works with, in order to make big changes like this, as it would completely break the game and halt development if he made these changes in the actual game. He is now working on integrating those changes back into the game, which unfortunately wasn't done in time for this patch release. Therefore, there shouldn't be any expectations of this patch having any performances improvements.
He's hoping to have those changes ready in time for the next patch, but this stuff is not an exact science, so we can't promise that that will be the case.
