<div class="IPBDescription">Multi cores??</div>Hey,

I've a bit of a kick ass server, quad core running rhel 5.4 ..

I ran through the setup for running a dedicated server for linux, having to run wine to get one running... but looking at performance, it seems to only be using 1 core??
Does anyone know how I can, if possible, fix this?

so with about 10 players on ... it starts detioriating and gets worse as the game goes on

Same with native windows environments, it will only use 1 core. I think it does something trivial on other cores, but really only 1 core will be taxed.

This is a pretty serious problem ;)
I know alot of 'client' apps use 1 core due to gfx .. but the server shouldnt have the same constraints

I might try run VMWare on it and give that a blast..

I'm running Windows Server 2008 R2 with kvm on my dedicated linux root and its also almost using only one core (in the host- and windows-environment) with 2 Cores assigned to the VM.

Either way, the server definitely still needs much love by the devs. :D

I think they care more about getting the single core system working better than splitting all their code and worrying about sync issues.

That's madness... server will only utilize 1 core even on a windows machine??

Installed windows7 on vm here now, at the moment its dling NS2 through steam at 1.2mb/s .. hoping it'll be nicer than wine anyhow
