Great patch! Theres not necessarily a boost in FPS but somethign abotu it feels A WHOLE LOT smoother, theres a helluva lot less jiggedy jaggedy stuttering feel to it. Everything it smooth! Job well done UWE!

I didn't notice any performance improvements, but if they are there, they are completely overshadowed by the bad gameplay with all the new bugs introduced.

Seconded.
The MAC/Drifter stopping bug really makes commanding rough now. Before, you could order your MAC/Drifter to go build something and they would do so everytime. Now you have to check back on them every 10s or so until they actually complete their task. This also leads to losing MACs/Drifters more often because they'll stop in the middle of the map and get killed, very frustrating.
The MAC/Drifter thing is annoying, but everything including that feels a lot more consistent and smooth. The Skulk is formidable now, both Projectile and Melee weapons feel like they're working right. It feels like the Engine is much improved, while the aspects of the Game itself may have suffered a bit, but these issues are at least surmountable with enough patience. I couldn't make a Skulk leap from Tier1 or reduce the OPness of the Shotgun, but damnit I can micromanage a MAC/Drifter. The game is now manageable at least. I intend to play build 170 much more than I did 169.
Wow, thanks for creating a separate thread for YOUR thoughts on the patch as I am sure many people on the forums were wondering exactly what you thought of 170.
Putting it in one of the existing threads would risk your valuable thoughts be buried beneath all the other, less important, posts and that just wouldn't do!
I am looking forward to all the new threads about various topics with extant threads. Keep it up!

And who exactly cares about your valuable thoughts on his thoughts? If you dislike a thread just let it die, it will wander down all by itself.

Yeah, I guess you are right. I am probably just a little work-grumpy.
lerk spikes with dropoff is uneeded.. seriously dont get the direction the devs are going with the crippling of kharaa patch after patch. fine, you wanna cripple the fade to function like the old lerk, so that means the kharaa NEED a midrange class. lerk WAS that but not instead of killing marines you have to worry about distance and dropoff, all while worrying about the wonky flight system already in place. at this rate marines will get their long cried for iron sight.

I agree with you.

Drop off for Lerk Spikes are absolutely fine... the fuss is because there seem to be some odd bugs with it, whereby if you are touching the ceiling or in certain spots in the roof they just don't seem to fire properly and stack.
If you can fly effectively you can silently glide at low speeds behind retreating marines and nail them in the back.
Once the zoom / fire delay has been addressed, this will be awesome.

Ive had this commanding "bug" ever since NS1: I cant place buildings in certain locations sometimes. Buildings wont start building because theres no place to put the building even on flat terrain. And sometimes I cant select a certain unit(s)
