<div class="IPBDescription">a little trick i found</div>Hi all. I recently found out how to make NS2 smoother on my computer (for the mouse input) and wanted to share that with everybody.
Playing quake etc often, i like to have a high mouse acceleration. I set mine quite high in NS2 a long time ago. Recently i felt that the game was.. hitchy. it was hard to hit with the skulk parasite, lerk spikes etc, because the slightest movement of my mouse jumped way too many pixels on the screen.
Solution. Lower mouse acceleration, increase mouse DPI to compensate.
Now NS2 is really smooth and plays so much better.
I doubt many have the same problem, but i wanted to share it anyway because the difference it made for me was so big

System control => Hardware => Mouse => Pointer options => Set speed to 6 (slider in the middle), and disable acceleration. (and never touch this again)
Now adjust your CPI ("dpi") in your mouse drivers to your liking. (depending on your mouse sensor some numbers are emulated(like windows does it if the slider is not at 6) - try to stick with round numbers like 400,800,1600 [google can tell you more])
If the speed is too fast or slow in a game, finetune it via ingame options only. (and/or cpi game profiles/hardware buttons to switch it + ingame finetuning[but usually ingame only is enough])
This "guide" ensures you the best mouse performance. (with as little software acceleration/crap as possible)
I'll try after day work
edit : it's better, nice tips
